Arrive at the Iquitos International Airport
Upon exiting the flight you will be met by your guide who will escort you to your transfer vehicle. Relax as the driver assists you with your luggage and escorts you to the Treehouse Lodge.

Treehouse Lodge
Treehouse Lodge, the only lodge of it’s kind in the Amazon rainforest, is a luxury lodge located at the confluence of the serene and protected Yarapa and Cumaceba rivers near the Pacaya Samiria Reserve. Upon arrival, you will receive a “menu” of excursion activities, all included in your tour, that will allow you to build your own adventure in the Amazon. Choose from:

  • Jungle walks during the day or night

Fly to Lima, Fly to Cusco
Fly from Iquitos to Lima and then travel to Cusco (elevation 11,200 feet), capital of the Ancient Incan Empire. Relax for a moment during the afternoon to acclimatize to the altitude.

Wyndham Cusco Saqsayhuaman Hotel
Nestled along the road to the famed Saqsayhuaman ruins, boasting 180-degree views of the Incan Capital city, the Wyndham Cusco Saqsayhuaman provides that rare opportunity to experience a different view of Cusco – one that hearkens back to Ancient Inca, breathtaking sunsets, and that feeling that adventures are just around the corner.

Explore Cusco on Foot
After arriving at the hotel, and resting to start acclimatizing to the altitude, you have the option of participating in a walking tour at the main Plaza of Cusco. You will view the charming Spanish buildings and the amazing stone foundations of the original Inca city. Afterwards, stroll through the cobblestone streets of this colonial jewel and discover more treasures on your own.

Pisac Market
On the way to the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, stop at lively Pisac Market where you can shop for local crafts, silver jewelry and alpaca sweaters. Practice your bartering skills or simply enjoy browsing at the colorful stalls.

Awana Kancha Camelids Center
In the Camelids Center (elevation 9,160 feet), get up close and personal with llamas, alpacas and even the rare and precious vicuña. See how the soft wool from these South American “camels” is used to make beautiful woven textiles.

Lunch at Tunupa
Enjoy delicious Peruvian foods and flavors. Observe the mighty Urubamba river, accessible from the restaurant.

Ollantaytambo: the Living Inca City
Explore the famed Ollantaytambo ruins on a private tour with your Destination Peru Tours guide. Climb the ancient Incan terraces and observe the ancient water canals that are still functioning today. Train to Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu
As your private motor coach climbs to the site of Machu Picchu, anticipate the extraordinary sight of these magnificent structures surrounded by green peaks glazed by a soft mist. (Elevation is 8,000 feet) You may even see llamas peacefully grazing among the terraces. Spend the morning with your Destination Peru Tours guide exploring the fascinating ruins and stunning views on your own. Remember that this amazing hike is at a high altitude and requires climbing and descending steep, uneven stairs. Take time to sit and marvel at the wonders around you.

Huayna Picchu Hike (Optional)
For those who would like even more adventure, we offer a guided hike up the jagged mountain that lies behind Machu Picchu called Huayna Picchu. It is a 1,000 ascent up steep, original Inca stars. Enjoy the incredible view from the top as you take in a full 360-degree view of the Machu Picchu area.

Lunch at Sanctuary Lodge
Join your fellow Adventurers for lunch at the eco-friendly Sanctuary Lodge, the only hotel located next to the ancient Incan site. After lunch, continue exploring the endless wonders of Machu Picchu.

Dinner at the Wyndham Cusco Saqsayuhuaman
After a ride on the train and motor coach back to Cusco, enjoy a leisurely dinner and share tales from the day with your fellow travelers.

Morning at your leisure
Enjoy the view at the hotel, go to the main Plaza for some last minute shopping, relax and pack for your flight back to Lima.
