DAY 1

Fly to Lima, Fly to Cusco

Travel to Cusco (elevation 11,200 feet), capital of the Ancient Incan Empire. Relax for a moment during the afternoon to acclimatize to the altitude.

DAY 2

Stones of Saqsayhuaman

Just outside Cusco is the imposing Inca fortress Sacsayhuaman, where 200-ton stones were moved miles with no modern machinery. Wander through the ruins and take photos of the panoramic views. Your Destination Peru Tours guide will be there to explain the history and answer your questions.

Lunch on Your Own

Spend your lunch time on your own in the main plaza of Cusco. Your Destination Peru Tours guide can suggest where you can enjoy lunch.

Andahuaylillas: The Sistine Chapel of South America

Travel a half hour to the famed chapel of the Andean Village known as Andahuaylillas. Enjoy your private tour and enjoy the magnificent frescos that make this site so famous. Take a moment to soak in the charm of this village and to explore the surrounding artisan shops of its plaza.

Evening at your Leisure

Enjoy the view at the hotel, go to the “Plaza de Armas de Cusco” for dinner, or take a Destination Peru Tours shuttle over to do some shopping at the local artisan market.

DAY 3

Pisac Market

On the way to the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, stop at lively Pisac Market where you can shop for local crafts, silver jewelry and alpaca sweaters. Practice your bartering skills or simply enjoy browsing at the colorful stalls.

Awana Kancha Camelids Center

In the Camelids Center (elevation 9,160 feet), get up close and personal with llamas, alpacas and even the rare and precious vicuña. See how the soft wool from these South American “camels” is used to make beautiful woven textiles.

Lunch at Sol y Luna

Enjoy delicious Peruvian foods and flavors. Enjoy the Peruvian Paso Horse show while you eat and peruse the delightful gardens.

Train to Machu Picchu

After lunch, enjoy the memorable and scenic train journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu. Exactaly to Aguas Calientes the main city where Machu Picchu is, ranked as one of the top 10 most scenic train rides in the world by Travel+Leisure magazine.

DAY 4

As your private motor coach climbs to the site of Machu Picchu, anticipate the extraordinary sight of these magnificent structures surrounded by green peaks glazed by a soft mist. (Elevation is 8,000 feet) You may even see llamas peacefully grazing among the terraces. Spend the morning with your Destination Peru Tours guide exploring the fascinating ruins and stunning views on your own. Remember that this amazing hike is at a high altitude and requires climbing and descending steep, uneven sdtairs. Take time to sit and marvel at the wonders around you.

Huayna Picchu Hike (Optional)

For those who would like even more adventure, we offer a guided hike up the jagged mountain that lies behind Machu Picchu called Huayna Picchu. It is a 1,000 ascent up steep, original Inca stars. Enjoy the incredible view from the top as you take in a full 360-degree view of the Machu Picchu area.

Lunch at Sanctuary Lodge

Join your fellow Adventurers for lunch at the eco-friendly Sanctuary Lodge, the only hotel located next to the ancient Incan site. After lunch, continue exploring the endless wonders of Machu Picchu.

DAY 5

Morning at your leisure
