Covid-19 in Peru: More Information

Health Alert: COVID-19 Update, Peru (October 18, 2020)

COVID-19 Cases: As of October 18, Peru’s Ministry of Health (MINSA) reports 868,675 confirmed cases of COVID-19; a total of 33,759 fatalities and 779,779 have recovered. Lima and Callao still have the highest concentration of COVID-19 cases countrywide. 

According to the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, Peru is currently ninth in the world for the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases (https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html). 

Confirmed cases and fatalities continue have decrease a little but they still have cases. Everyone is encouraged to continue practicing social distancing, and facemasks are required at all times in public to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Also, the government has dictated a new rule for everybody who is going to use public transportation, apart from wearing a face mask you have to use a facial protector.

Prime Minister, Pedro Cateriano, on the 3 of august confirms that the order to have remote work has extended until July 2021 to avoid the risk of contagious. 

Quarantine Measures and National Curfew:  Mandatory nightly curfew hours begin at 11:00 pm and end at 4:00 am for almost every region except Cusco, Tacna, Moquegua and Puno that still have an obligatory quarantine and curfew from 8:00 pm until 4:00 a from Monday to Saturday and Sunday all day. The all-day Sunday curfew for the other cities is no longer available but can’t use private vehicles.
